Hoops: Five things to know about Georgia
Offensive lineman Jake Heinrich is giving up football due to back injuries and will remain on scholarship as a medical exemption to the 85 limit.
Heinrich, out of Urbandale (IA) was a well-regarded recruit in the 2016 recruiting class as the No. 26 ranked offensive guard prospect in the nation. He chose the Hogs over Cal, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisville, Oregon and others.
Recently, fellow offensive lineman Zach Rogers announced an early retirement from football to seek a career as an early graduate. Kicker Cole Hedlund has transferred to North Texas.
That leaves three scholarship spots available. And with four commitments from Sunday and Monday following Arkansas' big visit weekend, that puts the Hogs at exactly 85. Arkansas plans to take approximately four more (give or take) in the class.
The chart below reflects recent changes, like Maleek Barkley moving from wide receiver to running back, the end of Zach Rogers' playing career, Jake Henrich going on medical hardship and the transfer of Cole Hedlund.
It also reflects the de-commitment of John Mincey and the commitment of Courtre Alexander, Andrew Parker, Myles Mason and Rakeem Boyd.
