Arkansas Razorbacks (12-5, 2-3 SEC) @ Florida Gators (12-5, 4-1 SEC)

Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018 | 6 p.m. (CST) on ESPN2

Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O’Connel Center (12,6333 cap.)

Arkansas did not play especially well last time out against Missouri in Fayetteville but still snapped a three-game losing streak, 65-63. They will try to end a much longer streak Wednesday night at Florida.

The Razorbacks last beat the Gators in Gainesville on Feb. 28, 1995, 94-85, as part of a 10-game winning streak that season. Later that year, the Hogs went on to play in the NCAA National Championship Game for the second year in a row. The national runner-up Razorbacks finished 32-7 that season and won the Western Division with a 12-4 mark.

Exactech Arena is a tough place to play, but Arkansas has had opportunities to have a better winning percentage there. They lost 57-56 in 2015 in Gainesville and lost 87-83 there in 2016.

"They've done what they're supposed to do, they take care of their home," Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said. "Since we've been here, we've had some opportunities, we just couldn't finish it.

"We've got to shoot the basketball, we've got to defend. You've got to get to the free throw line and make free throws."

Florida has won the last seven meetings between the two teams and has won 12 of the last 13. Anderson’s Razorbacks last beat UF in 2013, 80-69 in Fayetteville. The last time Arkansas won more than one game in consecutive years was under Nolan Richardson from 1992-1996 when they won five-straight. Back then, Arkansas was clearly the No. 2 basketball program in the SEC from a historical standpoint. Since then, many would argue that the Gators are in that spot after having won a pair of national championships.

"We just play together and play for each other and play defense, we'll be alright," Arkansas senior guard Anton Beard said. “Florida's a pretty good team and we just have to come out with the mindset of defense. Hopefully we'll come out with the win.”

The Gators stole a player out of Arkansas a few years ago in junior guard KeVaughn Allen, 6-2, 193. Allen averaged 14.0 points per game last season and shot 43.8 percent from the floor, but his numbers are off this season. His points per game have dropped to 10.3 and his field goal percentage has dipped to just 34.9 percent. He is averaging nearly two more minutes per game on the floor but is also averaging nearly two fewer shots per game. Allen played alongside Beard at North Little Rock.

"I've noticed it and it could definitely come into a breakout game, but hopefully not against us. We don't talk the week of the game. We'll probably talk next week, but not the week of the game," Beard said.
