Arkansas and South Carolina have had some important battles since the two teams joined the SEC in 1992.
Here are five of the Razorbacks' most memorable wins over the Gamecocks:
No. 12 Arkansas 26, South Carolina 20 -- Nov. 4, 2006
This was a big one in Razorback football history for a couple of reasons.
Most fans only remember a tough, hard-fought road win that moved the Hogs to 8-1 overall, 5-0 in conference play, and one step closer to eventually representing the SEC West in Atlanta.
But it's what happened during Arkansas' opening possession of the game that would have a huge impact on the program for years to come.
True freshman Mitch Mustain, who took over at quarterback following Arkansas' season-opening loss to Southern Cal and helped lead the Hogs to seven straight victories, was benched by Houston Nutt after throwing an interception on his first pass attempt against the Gamecocks.
Casey Dick took Mustain's place and threw for 228 yards, a touchdown and an interception. In the final four minutes, Dick completed passes on a third-and-10 and another third-and-8 to seal the win. Marcus Monk finished with eight catches for a career-high 192 yards and a touchdown, and Darren McFadden rushed for 219 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Dick kept the starting job for the remainder of the season, even after a 3 for 17 performance in Arkansas' loss to LSU in the season finale.
First-year offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, Mustain's high school coach at Springdale, left Arkansas for Tulsa at the end of the season. A day later, Mustain announced he would transfer from the UA. He finished his career at Southern Cal.
