The Razorbacks have closed on their second transfer addition in the Eric Musselman era. Cal transfer Connor Vanover announced his decision via Twitter on Wednesday morning. He was between returning to Cal and choosing to transfer to either Vanderbilt or Arkansas, both of which he visited in the last week.

Vanover first tweeted he would not be returning to Cal then, less than an hour later, made his announcement.

Vanover played his high school ball at Baptist Prep in Little Rock. Despite not being ranked nationally by Rivals the 7-foot-3 center was well known in recruiting circles. He had offers from the likes of Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Memphis. He de-committed from the Tigers when Tubby Smith was hired, and ended up at California.

As a freshman in Berkeley, Vanover played in 28 games and started 15. He averaged 7.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks. He shot 46.9 percent from the field, but was also able to step out and attempt 76 3-pointers, making 27 for a 35.5 percent average.

Vanover improved as the season went along. He scored in double figures in nine games. All nine occurred in Pac 12 play. His scored a career high 24 points in the final regular season game of the year against Stanford. He was 9 of 12 from the field.

The center will have to sit a season and he'll have three years left to play beginning in 2020.

“Connor has tremendous upside. He is an incredibly unique player. At 7-3, he can stretch the floor offensively by shooting the 3-pointer and be a rim-protecting shot blocker on the defensive end.”
