Arkansas is in the middle of its bye week, which gives the team a chance to self-scout, make any needed adjustments, work the first units against each another and get an early jump on the Texas A&M game in nine days.

The Aggies are struggling after losing a 34-point lead at UCLA, 45-44. They beat lowly Nicholls by just 10 points, 24-14, and they are slated to face Louisiana-Lafayette at 11 a.m. this Saturday. That should be of benefit to them since the game against Arkansas the next week is also at 11 a.m. The Hogs are coming off an uninspired 28-7 home loss to TCU.

“Disappointing, embarrassing,” Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen said. “We put in all that work all throughout the year, and then to have things happen like that on Saturday was really disappointing.”

Arkansas has worked tackling and individual drills as well as correcting things off the TCU film because Texas A&M runs a very similar scheme on offense. It was an 18-period practice on Thursday, so roughly an hour and 30 minutes. On offense, Allen said the offense was back to clicking.

“I’m looking for things to get open instead of throwing it open, where last year I was just letting it rip,” Allen said. “There’s the trust factor where I’ve got to trust in them that they’re going to get open. They know that and I know that.”
