Running back is still a glamour position at Arkansas, and Arkansas brought in a nice haul in the Class of 2016.

At Arkansas, running backs are still viewed in the same manner as they were in the 70s and 80s when Heisman Trophies went to running backs 14 times in 20 years. Getting in-depth reports on T.J. Hammonds and Devwah Whaley is just as important to Razorback fans as any update on a hotshot new quarterback.

“The days we install, it’s a little slower than if we don’t install a day,” running backs coach Reggie Mitchell said of his freshmen. “They’re just trying to get comfortable in the offense, but you can see they have ability, and once they get confidence in what they’re doing they’ll be able to show a little bit more.”

Whaley, 5-11, 216, is the big-time back out of Texas. He was ranked as the No. 5 running back prospect in the nation and was the No. 1 back out of the Lone Star State. Whaley is the kind of back with powerful, thick hips. He showed during Thursday’s open practice
