Arkansas will face the Central Oklahoma Bronchos Friday night at 7 p.m. in Bud Walton Arena for the first exhibition game of the season.
Arkansas coach Mike Anderson said he does not know who he is going to start against the Division II opponent, but expect veterans like Jaylen Barford and Daryl Macon with the possibilities of Anton Beard and Trey Thompson to be strong candidates. Regardless, he wants a core group of eight or nine players.
"We have six guys that are seniors...We have a chance to have a special team, I really believe that," Anderson said. "I always look for efficiency. I want to be a team that's going to hang our hats on our defense...I also want to be one of the teams that's going to be one of the top teams in assists."
Anderson said this game will give the high school players a chance to get the nerves out of their system for when the regular season actually begins. The Hogs have four freshmen depending on the status of Khalil Garland (undisclosed health issue). As of now, Anderson said there has been no status change for Garland.
