Ramsey back on scholarship?
Randy Ramsey posted on Twitter that he signed his new scholarship papers today. Ramsey is believed to be referring to a football scholarship, though that has not been formally announced by the University of Arkansas.
Ramsey joined the team as a Class of 2014 scholarship player before academics forced him to leave the program in 2015. He worked his way back and rejoined the team as a walk-on in the spring semester. He has since moved from linebacker to defensive end.
Arkansas players finished up their last day in 'half pack' Monday and will strap on full pads for the first time Tuesday. Though Monday's practice was closed entirely, the post-practice interviews were rather revealing.
“I’m always ready for full pads," strong safety Santos Ramirez said. "I’m a football player first. That’s the main thing I love to do is to hit and play the game of football. It’s my passion, so when we put the pads on it’s a different monster that’s going to come out on that field.”
Williams back 100
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema has said on at least two occasions now that he wants to discuss the idea of potentially using linebacker Josh Williams at fullback in certain situations in order to help him maximize his time on the field his senior year. Being a SAM linebacker, he will come off the field more in passing situations. The SAM doesn’t typically see as much action as the WILL and MIKE linebackers due to so many heavy pass teams.
“I didn’t really hear too much about that, but I’m running with the ‘1s’ at linebacker, so I’ll leave that to Coach B,” Williams said.
