A few twists and turns on second day of Arkansas spring drills

Arkansas defensive coordinator Paul Rhoads said the overall effort in practice the past two days - especially Thursday - has been on another level.

However, there are only two calls in on defense for the new 3-4 scheme, they don't strap on full pads until Saturday and there are "not a lot of opportunities to mess up."

"I just think the energy they'v shown me, especially today, shows that they're excited about the direction that we're going," Rhoads said. "There's been a level of happiness on the practice field, and I think championship football teams love to practice."

Arkansas is continuing to try out some different looks on the offensive line, but that doesn't mean it's going to be like all of 2016 where there was a new combination every other day it seemed. It's the spring, and there are 15 scholarship offensive linemen on the roster - including nine who have been on campus only a year or less. Now is the time to give some of these guys a look.
