Pregame Notes
With Brady Slavens unavailable because of a lateral ankle sprain suffered Wednesday, head coach Dave Van Horn moved Cullen Smith to first base, Cayden Wallace to third base and inserted freshman Ethan Bates in right field. He also moved Smith up to Slavens' spot in the 3-hole.
Lineups for both teams are listed below.
T-1st: Vanderbilt 2, Arkansas 0
It looked like Arkansas would get out of the first inning unscathed, but Christian Franklin lost a fly ball by Jack Bulger and it fell for a double. That set up a two-run double by CJ Rodriguez.
B-2nd: Vanderbilt 2, Arkansas 2
The Razorbacks get on the board with an RBI single by Ethan Bates. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Matt Goodheart was hit by a pitch to bring in the tying run.
T-4th: Vanderbilt 3, Arkansas 2
After retiring the first two batters, Patrick Wicklander issued a pair of walks sandwiched around a single to load the bases. That led to a pitching change and Ryan Costeiu walked 9-hole Jayson Gonzalez to give Vanderbilt the lead again.
B-4th: Arkansas 5, Vanderbilt 3
With runners on second and third, Matt Goodheart hit a double over the left fielder's head for two RBIs that gave Arkansas its first lead of the game. That also chased Kumar Rocker.
Against a reliever, Cullen Smith delivered a two-out RBI single.
T-5th: Arkansas 5, Vanderbilt 4
Isaiah Thomas led off the fifth inning with a home run.
B-5th: Arkansas 6, Vanderbilt 4
Robert Moore drew a leadoff walk, took second on a wild pitch, advanced to third on a ground out by Casey Opitz and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Ethan Bates.
FINAL - Arkansas 6, Vanderbilt 4
