No. 12: Ferrell finds home in Fayetteville
Arkansas will have a new punter on the roster when school resumes in January, as Chad Stephens of Dodge City (Kan.) Dodge City C.C. went public with his commitment to the Hogs on Tuesday.
Stephens, 6-0, 205, is an Owasso (Okla.) native who initially redshirted at Wyoming before transferring to Dodge City. He is currently a freshman and will have three years to play in Fayetteville.
He will enter as a preferred walk-on. Stephens also received interest from Oklahoma, UMASS, Liberty and several Division II programs.
"About midway through my season, I took a visit out at Arkansas and really enjoyed it," Stephens said. "I kept in contact with the coaches, and with the huge overhaul with the coaching staff getting fired it was interesting to see how all of that played out.
"I stayed in contact with coach (Tanner) Burns, though, and he showed real promise as a guy and as a coach. They offered me as a preferred walk-on and I committed."
Stephens can kick and punt, but will focus on punting, for now.
