The Arkansas Razorbacks (17-11, 6-9 SEC) went on the road and got blown out by South Carolina on Saturday, and they will stay on the road to play the Vanderbilt Commodores on Tuesday night at Memorial Gym in Nashville, Tennessee.
Shortly after the Razorbacks took it on the chin, 72-53, against the Gamecocks, the Commodores grabbed a key win over the Missouri Tigers in overtime Saturday. Vanderbilt scored 97 points, 16 of which came in the extra period to down the Tigers.
Despite the loss to the Gamecocks, the Razorbacks are still in the thick of the NCAA Tournament race, though the ice is thinner than it was prior to Saturday. A win over Vanderbilt wouldn't finalize anything, necessarily, but a win would be a big boost for the Hogs moving forward.
The Razorbacks will be shorthanded yet again, as junior forward Adou Thiero was listed as "out" on the SEC Availability Report released Monday night. This is the third game in a row Arkansas will be without its leading scorer and rebounder, as he hyperextended his knee against Missouri on Feb. 22.
Tuesday's contest will be the 56th between the Razorbacks and Commodores. Arkansas has a 30-15 advantage in the series, but Vanderbilt has a slight 9-8 advantage in games played in Memorial Gym.
The last time Arkansas and Vanderbilt met was in the first round of last season's SEC Tournament, a game the Hogs won 90-85. That game was also in Nashville, but was played at Bridgestone Arena, not Memorial Gym.
