Veterans offer insight into practice, personnel, injuries and newcomers

Arkansas players donned shoulder pads for the first time on Saturday, the third day of preseason camp, and there were a few personnel moves. Afterwards, several veteran players offered their take on practice, the state of the team, injuries and the newcomers.

Changing of the right guard

Jake Raulerson, Zach Rogers, Frank Ragnow and Jalen Merrick have all received work with the first team at right guard, according to right tackle Dan Skipper. Raulerson, a graduate transfer from Texas, was the backup right guard during the open portion of Thursday’s practice and started getting reps with the first team on Friday. Skipper said later in Saturday’s practice that Raulerson also worked at starting center and Ragnow then moved over to right guard.

“I figure by September 3rd, we’ve got to have someone there, right,” Skipper said. “[Raulerson] worked really hard this summer to pick up the offense. He’s really impressed me with that. He’s picking it up everywhere we’re putting him.”
