Williams ready for fresh start
One of the bigger moves of the off-season was landing South Carolina graduate transfer David Williams, 6-1, 229, following the career-ending injury of 1,300-yard rusher Rawleigh Williams.
Numbers got thin quick at running back when Rawleigh went down, so the addition of another experienced back to go with Devwah Whaley while freshmen Maleek Williams and Chase Hayden mature should be greatly beneficial.
Last season, David Williams rushed 56 times for 239 yards (4.3 ypc) with 3 touchdowns. He added 9 catches for 72 yards. His best game came against UMass when he ran 15 times for 69 yards and 2 touchdowns. He played in 9 of 13 games but was healthy for every game.
“Me and Coach [Will] Muschamp just didn’t see eye-to-eye,” Williams said of the South
